Q: Do you test concrete for moisture and PH before coating?

First, make sure your contractor tests for moisture. If they do not as part of the process, find someone else. Next, ask “What brand of moisture meter do you use?” Make sure they use a Tramex brand moisture meter. This is the recommended tool for accuracy by the National Society for Protective Coatings. Moisture meters purchased at big-box home improvement stores will not yield accurate readings.

Q: What quality control is done in the field to ensure consistent quality throughout the coating process and from floor to floor?

Each of our projects is assigned a project manager who oversees the job from start to finish, verifying with our crew that every step of the process is properly completed.

Each layer applied during the project is documented by a thickness gauge reading to ensure that our product is applied according to the manufacturer’s specifications.
Q: If failure of your product occurs, how do you handle the situation?

We have a customer service department dedicated to serving you and rectifying any issues with your floor. We’ll send out a representative to assess your floor in order to determine if the problem is due to a failure with the coating. Some instances, such as concrete failure, do not constitute warranty issues but can be repaired for a small fee.
Q: Do you have a reference list of customers whose floors have failed in the past that you have helped?

We have a reference list of customers that we have helped in the past that we are happy to share with you.
Q: Are you familiar with the SSPC (Society for Protective Coatings), ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials), and ISO (International Organization for Standardization) and their standards?

All of our staff are familiar with these organizations and the standards they have set for protective coatings.
Q: Do you have data to back up any claims made in your marketing?

All of our claims can be substantiated on our manufacturer’s MSDS and technical data sheets which we would be happy to provide.
Q: May I have a copy of the MSDS and data sheets of the product you use?

A MSDS is a document that gives detailed information about the nature of a chemical, such as physical and chemical properties, health, safety, fire, and environmental hazards of a chemical product. Beware of any firm that will not willingly give you this document when asked. As a homeowner, you are entitled to have the technical data on any product that is used in your home.

Upon request, we are happy to provide you with the MSDS and other technical data sheets for our products.
Q: Do you have different products for different floor conditions? If not, why?

Based on the moisture readings in some floors, a special moisture tolerant coating must be applied or the coating will fail. According to the SSPC, ASTM, and ISO, if moisture reading is above 5.5, Polyurea/Polyaspartic are not recommended and can fail. A moisture mitigation product needs to be applied.

If floor readings reveal high moisture content, we use a moisture tolerant product that is specifically designed to withstand the unique conditions of the concrete.
